Half Past Four
"We must have a bit of a fight, but I don't care about going on long," said Tweedledum. “What's the time now?”
Tweedledee looked at his watch, and said “Half Past Four.”
"Let's fight till six, and then have dinner," said Tweedledum. (Looking-Glass 4.74-76)

Bio
Half Past Four emerged on the Toronto music scene in the early 2000s, a brainchild of three immigrants hailing from different corners of the now non-existent Soviet Union. Igor “Iggy” Kurtzman, Dmitry “Les” Lesov and Constantin Necrasov, already familiar collaborators, embarked on a musical journey characterized by their shared passion for progressive rock. Their early compositions in their native Russian showcased a departure from the conventional, setting the foundation for what would become Half Past Four.
In 2005, the band welcomed Canadian vocalist Kyree Vibrant into their musical ensemble, sparking a transformative phase in their creative journey. This period witnessed a shift in their musical direction, as they dedicated their energies to translating existing compositions into English and crafting a host of innovative new pieces. In 2007 Half Past Four recorded a soundtrack for horror-comedy "The Mad" and, in 2008, released their debut album, "Rabbit In The Vestibule", featuring drummer Art Pisanski.
The subsequent years saw Half Past Four rocking stages at numerous festivals across Canada, US and UK, solidifying their presence in the progressive rock scene. Collaborating with drummer Marcello Cuirleo, they released “Good Things” (2013) and “Land Of The Blind” (2016), further showcasing their musical evolution. However, changes were on the horizon as Marcello departed in 2017, and Constantin's relocation to Ottawa prompted a period of relative silence, with live appearances becoming rare.
A turning point came in 2019 when the band was invited to participate in a Frank Zappa tribute show, leading to the introduction of drummer Roberto Bitti. Although the Zappa tribute plans were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the experience inspired a renewed creative energy within the band. Despite the challenges of long-distance collaboration following Constantin's move, they persevered, with the pandemic-induced hiatus gradually giving way to a resurgence in creativity.
In this period, they faced a pivotal decision to bring in a local guitarist . Following a year of exploration and auditions, Boris Kalantyr joined the ranks, his intricate guitar skills infusing the band's new material with a much-needed edge. Now, with a refreshed lineup, Half Past Four is gearing up to enter the recording studio, poised to embark on an exciting new chapter in their progressive rock odyssey.
